Nolte Kitchens Matt Black Handleless Kitchen
The Brief
The clients have a young family which were all camping out at the end of the garden in a caravan whilst the work took place. The clients chose a striking matt black range called Phoenix from the Nolte Kitchens Range. When looking at our different kitchen ranges at our Hertfordshire showroom in Cheshunt, it was this modern handleless look which struck a chord with their vision for the space.
The build project was a major extension and modernisation on their property in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. They wanted the kitchen to be a welcoming space. A space that would be practical for them and their young family, full of storage with a modern feel. They are both keen cooks and into their technology both being scientists.
Our customers wanted to be able to cook and talk whilst using the hob but were not comfortable with a gas hob near their children whilst seated at the island.
Designer Tips
The back of the house had to be looked at as a complete space. In order to ensure the room was full of light, wall cabinetry was omitted in favour of increased storage within the island units. In lieu of wall cabinetry, a horizontal window over the sink run was suggested which became a feature in itself.Nolte kitchens Phoenix range has anti fingerprint properties which was perfect as cleaning finger prints from a dark surface can be problematic. Dekton was suggested as the ideal worktop material for its incredible qualities of stain and scratch resistance – a perfect solution for a young family. The Dekton sizes available allowed the island to be fitted without requiring a join – a stunning seamless look was achieved. Dekton Sirius was fitted on the perimeter units which blends beautifully with the dark cabinetry.
We created a focal point by switching to an alternative white stone with prominent dark veining for the island workstation called Aura. The white stone had the dual effect of bringing additional light into the room, a main aim of the design as the cabinetry would be dark.
Antique effect mirrored glass was designed into the space to add reflection and more light into the space, but dullened so as not to upstage the cabinetry.. It tied in perfectly with all the matt black accessories (Quooker tap, Silgranit anthracite sink, Evoport and matt black recessed handle). The final space is super sleek and has a powerful visual impact.
